Seminar on engineering and management perspective on performance-based fire engineering design premises
(Jointly organised with the Institution of Fire Engineers (Hong Kong Branch) and Hong Kong Institution of Steel Construction Fire Group)
Date, time & venue
27 May 2010 (Thur); 6:30pm - 8:00pm; HKIE
Programme highlights
Performance-based fire engineering design is widely adopted around the world as a means of providing alternative fire safety design solutions in buildings. There are about 500 buildings adopting this approach in Hong Kong. Yet there is no control regime to monitoring the on-going fire safety performance of this type of premises. While performance-based fire engineering designs are rested on series of presumed operation environment, any changes beyond the design criteria could expose the premises and people therein to undue fire risk. Therefore, there are imminent needs for a structured fire safety management on the operations of the premises so as to ensure that the operation parameters of the premises are continuously maintained within the design criteria and the premises are operated at a reasonable safety level.
