| Membership |
Membership in the Institiute consists of four cateorgies: Fellow Member, Corporate Member, Affiliated Member and Associate Member. |
| Fellow Member (FHKISC) |
This is the most senior class of membership in the Institute and a Fellow should: |
- |
have achieved position of high responsibility to which he /she has brought superior knowledge and practice of an engineering displine related to steel construction; |
- |
be at least 35 years of age; |
- |
be supported by 3 HKISC Executive Board Members in application. |
- |
Fee: HK$400 ( per year ) |
| Corporate (MHKISC) |
| This is the ordinary class of membership in the Institute and a Corporate Member should: |
- |
have expertise in construction industry and acquire sufficient experience in an engineering discipline related to steel construction; |
- |
should attain the age of 25; |
- |
be either: |
(i) |
have a recognized Bachelor's degree in civil, structural or mechanical engineering, or related discipline, or plus 5 years of relevant experience; OR |
| (ii) |
obtain a Higher Diploma / Higher Certificate in civil, structural or mechanical engineering, or a related discipline to steel construction, plus 15 years of relevant experience; |

be supported by at least two Corporarte Members of the Institute in application. |

Fee: HK$250 ( per year ) |
| Company Member (CHKISC) |
This membership class is open to construction related companies. |
Affiliated (AFHKISC) |
| This membership class is open to professional, technical or no technical personnel who works in any area related to steel construction , e.g. welding or fire engineering. Application of this membership class will be considered on individual basis and subject to the discretion of the HKISC's Executive Board. |

| Associate (AHKISC) |
| An Associate Member should: |
- |
attain the age of 21. |
- |
be either: |
(i) |
an undergraduate or a postgraduate student in civil, structural or mechanical engineering or related discipline related to steel construction; OR |
(ii) |
be a Higher Diploma /High Certificate holder in any engineering discipline related to steel construction; OR; |
(iii) |
have a Higher Diploma/ High Certificate from an approved course plus 5 years of relevant experience. |

| Remarks |
| The Executive Board has full discretion as to any membership admission or transferal. |
| All members of the Institute are bound by the Institute's Memorandum and Articles of Association. |
