Half-Day Seminar on Various Fire Resistance Tests and their Advanced Develoment
Fire Safety is a big issue in infrastructure and construction buildings. In Hong Kong, we have code of practice to govern the requirements of fire safety level for different types of building. To prevent the fire spread within a building, compartments will be formed to confine the fire for a sufficient period to allow occupant evacuation and to access of fire fighters to help the victims and extinguish the fire. For those structural building elements, which are also known as the loadbearing elements, their protection under fire exposure is vital in maintaining the structural stability of the buildings under fire.

Seminar of Fire Testing and Product Certification of Fire Resistance Rated Doors In Hong Kong
Fire Safety is a big issue in infrastructure and construction buildings. In Hong Kong, we have code of practice to govern the requirements of fire safety level for different types of building. In order to prevent fire spread within a building, compartments will be formed to confine the fire for a sufficient period to allow occupant evacuation, access of fire fighters to help the victims and extinguish the fire. Therefore, for the building elements that form the compartment, it is important to certify whether they are capable to provide the required fire resistance performance. The fire resistance tests provide the method to determine the fire resistance performance of the products. The test standards specify the testing conditions, the methods to assess and the criteria to classify the ‘fire resistance performance’

Half-day Seminar on Non-linear Analysis and Design of Glass Pane with Hole Opening
For glass fin and bolted connection in glass pane, the presence of holes through which bolts are inserted leads inevitably to stress concentration and should not be ignored. In traditional engineering for an infinite thin plate with a hole under tensile load, conventional peak stresses near the hole can be three times as large as those away from the hole. For splice connection of glass fins using bolts, structural calculation should have checked the tensile stress at the edge of the ...

Half-day Seminar on Proper Use of Low Hydrogen Electrode
When welding thick plates or welding steel of higher grade, one must be very cautious about the failure in hydrogen embrittlement, or delayed hydrogen cracking. In order to mitigate the risk of hydrogen embrittlement, preheat requirements should be checked against the guideline stipulated in BS EN 1011-2. Having said that, experts always advise that the most effective assurance of mitigating hydrogen embrittlement is to ensure low hydrogen input to the weld through the use of low hydrogen welding electrode..

Full-day workshop on Latest Design and Application of Laminated Glass
Principal feature of laminated glass is the safety performance under impact and breakage The interlayers absorb the energy of the impact and resist penetration. Although the glass may break, the glass fragments remain firmly bonded to the interlayer, minimizing the risk of injuries. In glass skylights, canopies, sloped glazing, glass balustrade and curtain wall, there is always the possibility of glass breakage. Without laminated glass, that could mean a big safety problem caused by shattering glass. The workshop is tailor-made for the practising building professionals comprising Authorized Persons, Registered Structural Engineers, Technically Competent Persons and Facade practitioners to attend.
